The #façade with white & grey boxes holding a conspicuous screen on the top made itself #TheShadedHouse. The idea was to create a #house that interacts with outside spaces and fetches a maximum of daylight but at the same time, it should be barred from the harsh light of the south sun. This idea in the architect’s mind was resulted in creating “The Shaded House”.
TheShadedHouse in Ahmedabad has a plot size of 45’x90’ and is enclosed with 2 to 4 story structures on 3 sides. The road in the front is the only open frontage for the site. As after setbacks of required margins, the frontage of the utilized floor space was only 27’, it was an interesting challenge for the architect to accommodate all the activities.
The brief was to create an open and spacious 4 bedroom house that is well-lit and naturally ventilated while ensuring the privacy of spaces. Also, the client required a spacious living room, family room, dining, kitchen, puja room, entertainment room, and a lift with a staircase for vertical transition.
