Delhi: - Another connecting construction of Zojil tunnel and Z Morh tunnel in jammu and Kashmir was review and inspected by the Road Transport and Highway Minister “Nitin Gadakari” on September 26. This will be constructed in the Zojila ghats between Sonmarg and Kargil. The length of the tunnel is 14.15 kilometers and Z Morh tunnel is 6.5 kilometers. After completing Zojila tunnel will be the India’s longest road tunnel and Asia’s longest bi-directional tunnel built at an altitude of 11, 578 feet. The two tunnels will offer all-weather connectivity between Ladakh and Kashmir. If we talk about Zojila tunnel, is going to cost of Rs.4,500 crore at an elevation ranging from 2,700 meters to 3, 300 meters on NH-01. And will help to reduce the distance between Baltal in Kashmir and Minamarg in Ladakh from 40 km to 13km. and on the other hand, Z-Morh will cost Rs.2,378 crore and will connect Sonamarg with Gagangir in the Kashmir valley even during winters as well. This tunnel could be crucial for socio- economic boost in the region.
