As Delhi Metro Fares Rise, a Look at DMRC’s Gold Line and New Corridors Shaping the City

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has hiked its fares ranging from ₹1 to ₹4. The decision effective on Monday, August 25, 2025, was announced through the social media platform, media and notices at metro stations.

It's the first time in 8 years that DMRC has increased the travel cost. Your journey’s fare will now vary with the distance travelled and the line you board.

The Delhi Metro stands as India’s largest and busiest metro rail system, seamlessly linking the capital with key satellite cities like Faridabad, Gurugram, and Noida. Expanding at a rapid pace, the Delhi Metro network is now gearing up to grow with its Phase IV. Following its iconic coloured lines, DMRC is ready to unveil its newest addition to the map, the Gold Line.

Earlier proposed as the Silver Line, this corridor is now under construction and will soon link South Delhi directly to the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

DMRC Update

Not long ago, the official social media account of DMRC broke the news of completion of milestone. The post said, "The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation today achieved a significant construction milestone with the completion of underground tunnel between Maa Anandmayee Marg and Tughlakabad Railway colony station on the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor of Phase-IV which is also known as Golden Line."
