Constructed at an approximate expense of Rs 3,500 crore, the 67 lakh square feet of floor area of the building can accommodate almost 4,500 offices for diamond trading.

The building's floor area is more than 7.1 million square feet. The Pentagon served as the largest office building in the world for eight decades. But biggest office in the world title has now been taken by a building in Gujarat's Surat that will house a diamond trading centre. Ninety percent of the diamonds in the world are cut in Surat, which is renowned as the world's gem capital. According to the outlet, the recently built Surat Diamond Bourse will serve as a "one-stop destination" for more than 65,000 diamond professionals, including cutters, polishers, and traders. The 15-story building is comprised of nine rectangular structures and is situated on 35 acres of land. A central spine connects them all together.

Among its many features in construction, the best of them include a 10,000 square meter food zone, a shopping center, and more than 8,000 square meters dedicated to conference spaces, banquet facilities, and health and wellness. The main challenge was making it simple and effective for 67,000 people to navigate the high-security area on a daily basis. In order to accommodate large crowds of people within trading hours, the building's design unifies it both vertically and horizontally with walkable corridors spanning all floors. By maximizing travel times from the site entrance to the farthest office module in less than 4 minutes, functional proximities were ascertained. People movement has been planned to reduce security so that traders can move through the building several times a day after being inspected at the perimeter.
This world’s largest office building complex comprises a 20 lakh square foot parking area and recreational zone. It is a not for profit organization supported by SDB Diamond Bourse, a business established to establish and market Diamond Bourse in Surat, Gujarat, and registered under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013.
