During the monsoon season, nothing beats the tranquil moments spent in the comfort of your own home. The petrichor, the sounds of the rain, and the warm atmosphere make this the ideal place to unwind and spend time with loved ones. The season encourages us to enjoy the conveniences of home while also experiencing the outdoors with elegance and style. Blending indoor and outdoor exteriors and crafting eco-conscious designs improves the well-being of the users.

Windows as Canvases for Outdoors: Windows serve as a framing device to bring the outdoors in. Oversized openings, extended sills, bay seating, and frameless glass corners allow the rain to be admired and felt. A well-designed window is a living painting during the rains as it creates thresholds where you feel close to nature, yet protected. But I find cool, earthy tones bring a certain freshness. Sage greens, ochres, clay reds, and dove greys act as grounding agents”, explains Jasleen. Hand-painted murals, terrazzo surfaces, or tiles with botanical prints to evoke the lushness outside. Soft furnishings take on mossy textures, woven patterns, or fluid geometries that mimic rainfall and wind.

Scents and Sounds of Nature: Monsoon interiors are not only seen and touched, but also heard and smelled. Aromatics like vetiver, cedarwood, sandal, and basil find their way into diffusers, incense, and handmade sachets. For sound, she designs for acoustic resonance, allowing the patter of rain to become a comforting backdrop.
