CM Yogi Sets December Deadline for Ganga Expressway; Know Everything

The much-awaited Ganga Expressway is set to complete soon as Uttar Pradesh's CM Yogi Adityanath has instructed the authorities to wrap the construction of phase 1 by December 2025. This took place in a review meet of Uttar Pradesh Industrial Expressway Development Authority (UPEIDA) where the chief minister was present on Wednesday. Marking a major milestone in UP's infrastructure development this project will enhance connectivity and reduce time in dedicated areas of the state. 

The 594-km-long expressway has been developed from scratch to connect 12 cities and towns between Meerut and Prayagraj including Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh. It will drastically reduce the travel time from 10 - 12 hours to nearly 6 - 7 hours between the two destinations.

Considered a landmark in modern Indian infrastructure, it is equipped with advanced safety systems, seamless long-distance driving provisions, and several other state-of-the-art features.

Features of Ganga Expressway

The expressway has been designed for luxury experience and smooth driving with a speed limit of upto 120 km/h. It has 18 flyovers, 8 major bridges, 381 underpasses, and a total of 17 toll booths. That's not all, Ganga Expressway will act as a strategic asset for the air force as well with a separate airstrip in Shahjahanpur for emergency landings of fighter jets. 

Equipped with smart infrastructure features, the high-speed corridor has like intelligent traffic systems, CCTV monitoring, and real-time vehicle tracking. Built with world-class standards, the expressway even has emergency response units and sensor-driven tolling. Sustainability is one of the major factors kept in mind while constructing the entire project. The urban marveluses 50% locally sourced, recycled materials, rainwater harvesting structures, and solar lighting, while incorporating vegetative growth to prevent soil erosion.

Ganga Expressway comes with a series of pros and one of the main ones being its planned connectivity to Noida's Jewar International Airport. Areas of eastern and central UP will have a direct access to the same which will take way lesser time than before. Apart from travel, the expressway will also play a key role in promoting trade, cargo movement and boost economy.
